American Federation of Aviculture. This is the most politically active organization in the United States. You should join this organization to keep abreast of issues related to pet bird ownership. It also publishes The AFA Watchbird, which I consider one of the best publications on aviculture in the United States. You can find selected articles from its journal at its website.
American Ornithologist' Union. This one of the premier ornithology organizations in North America. It publishes the journal The Auk. You can access the table of contents of the journal at the website.
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or call (212) 876-7700.
Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement or call (718) 382-0690.
Avicultural Society of America. The oldest organizations devoted to aviculture in the United States and still going strong. It was founded in 1927.
Earth Watch. This organization offers an opportunity to assist in the preserving parrots. Check out the different expeditions. Some are to the Tambopata Reserach Center.
The Ecological Society of America. This organization has several publications that sometimes contain information pertinent to parrots.
Foundation Dutch Parrot Refuge. This Foundation takes in unwanted pet birds.
The Gabriel Foundation. This is a nonprofit corporation involved in education, conservation, rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of parrots.
Japan Ethological Society. This Society published the Journal of Ethology which contains an occasional article on parrots.
Loro Parque Fundación. Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain. The Loro Parque FundaciÓn is the sponsor of the International Parrot Convention that is held every three years at Puerto de le Cruz.
Neotropical Ornithological Society. This society publishes a journal called Ornitilogia Neotropical. You can access the Table of Contents at the website.
RARE Center for Tropical Conservation. This organization works to involve the local population in the preservation of tropical areas and species.
Rare Species Conservatory Foundation. Has a breeding program for Yellow-thighed caiques and supplies chicks from the program to other aviaries and zoos. Loxahatchee, FL.
The Schubot Exotic Bird Health Center. At Texas A&M University.
Tambopata Macaw Project. This is the website of Prof. Donald Brightsmith.
The Parrot Society of Australia. This is the national organization devoted to all aspects of parrots in Australia. It publishes a bi-monthly journal.
The Parrot Society UK. This is the national parrot organization for the United Kingdom. You may hear the sound of a white-bellied caique at the site.

TRAFFIC. TRAFFIC monitors the trade in endangered species. It is a join program of the World Wild Life (WWF) organization and The World Conservation Union (IUCN).
Veterinary School List. This is a list of veterinary schools in the United States. It was put together by Sara Coolidge as a guide to those interested in becoming veterinarians.
The World Parrot Trust. This organization has an excellent publication devoted to parrots called PsittaScene. A pdf version of the publication can be accessed through this website.
